Popularly known as Moth Orchids, these are among the most beautiful and graceful of orchids.
The genus comprises about 70 species, nearly all epiphytic and tropical.
Generally the plant has a short stem and thick, leathery, dark green leaves that may be quite large. The slender flowering stem, which can grow up to 80cm in length, may have as many as 20 flowers.
