This BookBench was inspired by Jane Austen’s words to sit in the shade one fine day and to look upon verdure is the most perfect refreshment. This craft centre was Viables Farm, part of the Portsmouth Estate and there are lots of places to explore. Viables also gives its name to the business park where De La Rue, the secure printer and creators of banknotes and passports and, the sponsor for this BookBench, are based. De La Rue were established in the area just after Jane Austen’s death.
